About Patrick Purdon

Patrick Purdon began singing at the age of 23, shortly after entering graduate school at MIT.  Patrick found his musical inspiration in Jazz:  "Its improvisational nature challenges us to live and create in the moment, daring us to take risks, grasping for one extraordinary moment, then another, and then another... Bringing everyone along for the ride, good or bad..."  After a two-year hiatus from singing to finish his Ph.D., Patrick marked his return to the Boston music scene in the Summer of 2005 by winning the Remington's Vocal Jazz Competition run by the Al Vega Trio.  Patrick brings jazz vocals to life with smooth, mellifluous lines and a dynamic, daring approach to vocal improvisation, inspired by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, Billie Holiday, Joao Gilberto, Kurt Elling, and Frank Sinatra.
